The Ephesians Prayer for Spiritual Wisdom

Ephesians 1:3 tells us that the Father has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.  As rich as our inheritance is, it wouldn’t benefit us if we didn’t know what we inherited or how to access it.  If you inherited something from a relative, you would go to an attorney’s office to hear the Will read.  In the same sense, you go to your Heavenly Father to understand what He gave you.

Often we read about “heavenly places” in the New Testament.  To understand and access what we can’t touch and see in the natural realm, we need our spiritual eyes to be enlightened and opened.  The Ephesians prayer in 1:17-21 shows us how to pray for this:

“..that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.”

We can pray this prayer daily, and personalize it by replacing “you” with “me or my”.  You will see the Word of God in a whole new light.  It is like being in a room where one row of lights go on, and then another row, then another, a continual increased illumination.
