He Committed To Us The Word Of Reconciliation
When someone commits something to you, they trust you enough to hand something of value over to you. Did you know that God Himself has committed to us something of great value and worth? Our Heavenly Father’s heart was yearning for the fellowship He once had with mankind and He found a way to restore and reconcile us back to Him through sending His Son to become sin for us so we can become the righteousness of God, in right standing with Him.
2 Cor. 5:17-20 says: “17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
These verses summarize perfectly the Gospel message that we are committed with:
We were once at odds with God.
God’s heart yearned for us and found a way to bring us back into fellowship with Him and reconciled us.
He took our place and bore the penalty of our trespasses and sins on His body and gave us His righteousness.
For those who repent and believe, they become a new creation and are reconciled to God.
He committed to us the ministry of reconciliation and made us ambassadors for Christ so we can tell others also.
If it is difficult to share your faith with people, I encourage you to be still and listen to the Father’s heart as He is pleading for them to be reconciled to Him. His love is so great for us and the lost who don’t know Him yet. Listen to His heartbeat and let His love draw you to them.
