The Story is Still Being Written

John 14:16,18 "And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper that He may abide with you forever- the Spirit of truth,.... 18 I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you."

When Jesus walked this earth He performed many signs, wonders, and miracles that He didn't intend to end after His crucifixion and resurrection, but rather to be continued through the person of the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers throughout the earth. He told His disciples that He was going to ask the Father to send "another" helper to them before He departed. For there to be another, there had to be one already present, and that was Jesus.  The helper that Jesus was asking the Father to send was the Parakletos, the third part of the Trinity and as His name implies, He is a comforter, counselor teacher, and an advocate.

Have we as a church realized the magnitude of this reality .... that the Holy Spirit was sent to us to continue Jesus's ministry here on earth and that we can do things through His anointing as Jesus did?  We may read with envy the miracles of Jesus and the early church in the New Testament and think " how cool would it have been to be alive in those days."  But the power of the spirit that they had, we have also!  The story doesn't end in the New Testament and it is STILL BEING WRITTEN today.

How is the story unfolding in our lives and churches? Does it read; "as they grew in number they grieved the spirit and grew dull as they stopped yielding to Him?"  Or does it read " They yielded to the Holy Spirit and the church grew in number and power exponentially?"

The choice is ours.  Do you hear the heart of the Father, yearning for you to acknowledge Him, and yield to His Spirit so He can continue writing His story through you?
