Rebounding
Do you remember Weebles, an egg-shaped tabletop toy that wouldn't fall when tipped, but rather sprang right back up? The Weeble's slogan went something like "Weebles wobble but they don't fall down." The firm weighted base would cause the Weeble to rebound and spring back up to an upright position after a fall. It never stayed down because of what it was grounded in.
How about us? When we are tipped by any circumstance that would try to take us down, do we merely wobble and rebound or fall flat on our face and stay down for the count? How can we "wobble but not fall down" also?
For one, we can look at what we are grounded in. God gave us His Word to defeat the enemy in our lives and as we read, believe, and speak it, we will be grounded in Him. When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness in Matthew 4:4, He responded to the devil's lies by saying: “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.' "
We are to live by His Word. When the tempter came to Jesus, He didn't have to get out His concordance and reference books and look up the scripture in order to counter the lies with truth. Rather, He hid the Word in His Heart and stayed full, so when He needed to know the Word He was ready. Psalms 119:11 says "Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You." When we read our bibles, let's not merely skim over the pages as if in a race, but rather let's meditate and ponder the truth written within, so the words can get deep in our hearts.
We can fill up our arsenal with the Word of God so when we are faced with trying circumstances, temptations, or trials we can spring right back up with the Word of God and say as Jesus did "for it is written!"
