A True or a False Identity

Do you see yourself the way God sees you?  If you aren't walking in your God-given identity, isn't it fair to say that you are living under a false identity?  The bible says in Col. 1:13 that "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed (transferred) us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." In His Kingdom, there are new kingdom principles that govern us, but how many of us as Christians are living under the old principles Jesus delivered us from? Jesus gave us a new identity but are we living under the old identity we had before we were in Christ?

Jesus identified with all of mankind in His death, so we could rise up with Him and identify in His life. Ephesians 2:4-6 says that even when we were dead in our trespasses God made us alive together with Christ and raised us up together.  Our new identity is found in our union with Christ.

2 Cor. 5:17 says  "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."   We are new creatures in Christ.  Not refurbished, not remodeled but a completely new creation on the inside.   Our central processing system has been replaced and we will short circuit and blow a fuse if we as a new creation try to operate in our old ways and pattern of thinking.

Here is what the Word of God says about who you are in Christ to help you discover your true identity:

·         You are redeemed. Ephesians 1:7 "In Him we have redemption through His blood..."

·         You are reconciled to Him. Col. 1:22 "But now He has reconciled you by Christ's physical body..."

·         You are forgiven. 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins..."

·         You are loved. Ephesians 3:19 "and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge....."

·         You are accepted in the beloved. Ephesians 1:6 "by which He made us accepted in the Beloved."

What identity are you embracing?
