The Lordship of Jesus

Phil. 2:9-11:  "Therefore God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven and those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Many of us declare Jesus is Lord and our hearts beam with love towards Him.  It is a declaration that He has supreme power and rule not only in the universe but also in our lives and we choose to surrender our all and follow Him. What an honor it is that the most supreme being in the universe, with the name above all names, reached down to mankind and gave us an opportunity to reach back.

When we declare His Lordship, we surrender our ALL to Him and approach Him with humility and honor.  We don't pick and choose what areas of our lives He can have as if we were cutting a pie and offering Him a few slices. He gave Himself completely to us, and with gratitude, we can give ourselves completely back to Him.

The beauty of the nature of our free will is that we can choose whether or not we will come under His Lordship and offer our gifts and talents back to Him for His use and glory.

Jesus, when sending out the Twelve Apostles in Matthew 10:8, told them to "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."  To freely give we need a yielded, consecrated heart like our Lord Jesus had towards the Heavenly Father in the Garden of Gethsemane in Luke 22:42 "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

Jesus is Lord. He has freely given to us.  Are we freely giving back or holding back?
